Most Romantic Green Valentine’s Day Gifts

Forget the bunch of roses and teddy bear; it’s time for green Valentine’s Day gifts this year! And by green, we mean literally and figuratively. Our tree gifts are the ultimate gift, but did you know there are some trees which are better suited as Valentine’s gifts than others?

Two Most Romantic Green Valentine’s Day Gifts

Thie Valentine’s Day, you can go green with two of the most romantic living gifts, camellia and magnolia trees.

Symbolism of Camellia Trees

The Camellia tree is loved by people around the world. Discovered by western explorers in Asia (native to Japan, China and the Philippines) in the 17th century, today it is thought to symbolise love, both romantic and plutonic. In Japan, the camellia flowers were used to honour samurais and it was believed that gods lived in the camellia flower in spirit form when visiting earth. In China the camellia flower symbolises unyielding love.

The different colours of the camellia flower also have special meanings. White camellias are seen as being pure and innocent, as well as showing admiration and respect. Pink camellias are for long distance relationships, as they symbolise longing. Red camellias symbolise passion, love, desire, and romance.

Symbolism of Magnolia Trees

Did you know that magnolias are believed to be one of the first flowering plants on earth, as the flowers themselves have been found in fossils over 100 million years old? Symbolising endurance and being something held dear within the heart, magnolia trees make ideal green Valentine’s Day gifts too.  But this national flower of Korea also symbolises commitment, beauty, wealth and nobility.

Like the camellia flower, the different colour flowers also have special meanings. White magnolias speak of virtue, innocence and purity, and cream flowers of elegance and wisdom. Pink flowers symbolise both romantic and platonic love as well as grace and femininity. Red magnolia flowers symbolise romantic everlasting love, with purple flowers symbolising peace, royalty, and admiration.
